However, the core of this phrase comes down to this; doing what you can to elevate where you are into a space you want to be in. This may be taking a yoga class, reading a classic novel, or attending a symposium.
No matter what you do, if you expand your knowledge, you practice self-improvement.
Another factor of self-improvement is wanting to learn. Do you ever have a conversation with someone, and they know just enough to argue, but once you expound on the subject, they shut you down? Yeah. Don’t be that person.

So how do you get there? Self-Improvement. Let’s say you want to work from home part-time, make full-time pay, and love to program apps. Look into a certificate that you can do online. Yeah, it may be tough working where you must while you work on what you want to do, but 6 months is a short time in the big picture.
And then, guess what? You got it. You evaluated your situation, created a path to what your heart wanted, took six months, and lost a little sleep to gain much freedom.
Was it worth it? Yeah, it was.
But self-improvement is more than just work or school. It is also an opportunity to reflect on yourself as a human.
The world is rough right now. There is turmoil and anger…and people that need a hug.
